Illustration Friday: OUIET

We have the unique fortune of owning a very talkative cat. She comments on EVERYTHING and her vocabulary is ever growing and we’re constantly amazed at the number of different meowing intonations she manages to comes up with. We do love her for it but there are times when we wish she would just hush up. These are just one of those rare moments of QUIET that she blesses us with and boy do we treasure them ….

Illustration Friday: PHOBIA

I have at times been faced with a block in my creativity and end up feeling defeated. Thankfully, they are few and far between, but imagine for a moment, if we all woke up one day without any creative imagination, wouldn’t that be utterly devastating?

Illustration Friday: CHANGE

Hobbies were a luxury that I didn’t have time to indulge in when I was working full time. I’ve always longed for a period in my life when I could just sit around and sketch and paint all day without a care in the world. I thought I would be sixty before this happened but amazingly, this season has presented itself right now.
I’ve sketched all my life. The first and last artwork I got recognition for was when I was about five and it was a painting of cats. I had longed for a pet cat but could not convince my parents to get me one so I expressed my desires in drawing. My kindergarten teacher thought it was such an excellent piece of work that she entered it in a competition. Surprisingly, it won an honorable mention and was hung in the national art gallery. But more importantly, I got my first kitten after that.

These days, I sketch and paint whenever the wind moves me but I feel that the time has come to challenge myself and I found a way to do that by participating in Illustration Friday. This is my first submission and ironically, this week’s topic is CHANGE and I’m excited to let the process begin …
